ADV Women’s Weekend
3 Day Course
Coming back in 2026!!...
A weekend of dirt, skills, and unforgettable moments—this is your invitation to ride, wrench, and rally with an incredible crew of women adventurers.
Start the weekend with Shal Wilson’s two-day Adventure Rider Training, an empowering experience designed to build your confidence and capability off-road. Whether you're just getting into ADV or looking to sharpen your skills, this all-women’s course covers the essentials—clutch control, body positioning, obstacle navigation—all in a supportive, badass environment.
And when the dust settles Saturday evening, stick around for the Moto Mixer, where we’ll fire up the grill and dive into Trailside Triage, a hands-on bike repair session with Eva Rupert of SheADV. You'll leave with a full belly, new friends, and the knowledge to keep your bike rolling when things get bumpy.
Cap off your weekend on Sunday’s All-Women’s Outride—a casual, confidence-building ride through scenic terrain with Shal and your new riding crew. Whether you’re tackling tougher trails or keeping it chill, you’ll have support every mile of the way.
Come for the training, stay for the community—and leave with more confidence, more skills, and way more grit. Join us for one event or make a weekend of it. This is your ride.

Shal is one of those people you meet that makes you want to be better, do better, and try harder. Spending 30+ years adventuring in the Alaskan backcountry has left her with more grit than most of us could fathom. She’s spent years mountain biking, bike packing, mountaineering, white water rafting, kayaking, backpacking, and of course miles and miles of backcountry adventure riding. She’s a backcountry enthusiast and thankfully a Wilderness First Responder because of it. When she’s not busy training, Shal is out conquering as much backcountry terrain as she can squeeze in. During a 31,000 mile solo moto trip in 2015, she even set the original record for the most Backcountry Discovery Routes traveled in a 3-month time frame, and was part of the BDR Expedition Team for the filming of the New Mexico BDR.

What a fabulous weekend
What a fabulous weekend; one of the best "vacations" of my life. I attended all four days (Level 2 and Level 3), staying in one of the tent sites. Others stayed in yurts, campers, or drove in daily. Showers are available and a new lodge is under construction. Ben Dragoo's instruction (DART) was mature, practical, and well structured. Jamie and James were excellent assistants. As a new rider of only a few months, I came in with only self-taught (YouTube) skills. I was also limited to what I could apply on roads and trails in my area. Other participants had decades of riding experience. I was initially very intimidated, but the program guides students through a progression of skills that elevate both noob and mature riders. I've done a number of technical skill trainings course over the years, including as student and instructor for rock climbing. Too often instructors present an ideal or limited scope of acceptable technique or equipment; everything else is "wrong." For example, a friend of mine was taught that you need a specific (awkward) posture when standing. Or, instructors may insist that bar risers are always wrong. If you just follow "their" rules, you are doing it right. Ben's approach was more relaxed; "ride what you have." This carries through the whole program: practical, approachable, non-judgmental, and patient. This reduces stress and helps participants focus on skill building without shaming from an instructor. The out-ride to the Uinta National Forest on day three of Leve l3 training was the final, in-situ application of all the training. It was a wonderful experience. Grit Moto Adventures ranch is a great facility with constructed and natural terrain that provide safe and effective training stations. Kari's support was excellent. Thank you for putting all together.

6 stars if I could!!!
GRIT, Kari and Ben were absolutely amazing! They are patient when the struggle got real, which several of us were in need of. It does not matter if you are newer to riding off road or have been riding for decades, you will learn some new skills! I highly recommend this course and will be back for the level 3 course.

Utah 6 Day Tour
Riding GRIT Moto’s Fall 2024 Utah! Homebase Tour was an absolutely incredible experience. The roads, the back country off-roads, the landscape and scenery of Utah in the Fall, the accommodations, and the support were all phenomenal. The six day ride included everything they said it would; adventure, camaraderie, challenges conquered by perseverance and team work, and a feeling of accomplishment once over. The rented Yamaha Tenere 700 was one tough powerful bike; perfect for this adventure. Our guides for this tour, Ken (lead), and Curtis (sweep), were great and a joy to hang with after a long day of riding. And boy, do they have stories. It is hard to put into words how great Kari (SAG truck driver, GRIT principal, support dog owner) was. She went above and beyond my expectations for this tour every single day. When it comes to Adventure riding, she is the most passionate person I’ve ever met. I’m sure this passion will drive the success of GRIT Moto Adventures and the GRIT Moto Ranch. Finally, to ride this with my brother, who I had not ridden with in many decades, made this a ‘beyond priceless’ experience. Thank you, GRIT!
